While February can often feel like the "long slog" of winter, this year the E20 postcode is anything but quiet. From elite jazz in the East Village to high-stakes football at the Stadium, here is your guide to what’s happening in our corner of London this month.
Live Music and Culture: Soul Mama and East Bank
East London continues to establish itself as a cultural powerhouse. Here’s three highlights this month:
Soul Mama: YolanDa Brown’s venue has a packed February. Don’t miss the Valentine’s Weekend Special (Feb 13 - 14) featuring the Bob Marley Songbook, or catch international soul star Susan Carol on February 17th.
Sadler’s Wells East: The new "Dance Floor" series is offering free dance classes and workshops throughout the month - a perfect way to shake off the winter blues.
UCL East (Marshgate): The Words Matter exhibition is running until Feb 25th. It’s a great free local spot to see multi-disciplinary art from twelve rising artists.
For the Fitness Fans: Run the Park
If your New Year’s resolutions are still going strong (or need a kickstart), the Park has two major dates for your diary:
QE Olympic Park 5k & 10k (Feb 7): The monthly RunThrough race returns. It’s flat, fast, and stays entirely within the park - perfect for a PB or a social jog.
Coffee Rides at Lee Valley VeloPark: For something more social, the "Coffee Rides" continue every week. It’s a chilled-out cycling session followed by a brew and a chat with neighbours.
Match Day: West Ham at Home
The London Stadium will be a sea of claret and blue twice this month. Expect the usual buzz (and slightly busier trains!) on these dates:
Feb 10: West Ham v Manchester United (8:15 PM kick-off)
Feb 21: West Ham v AFC Bournemouth (5:30 PM kick-off)
Family Fun at Westfield
Westfield Stratford City is leaning into "The Vibes" this month with a series of free pop-ups:
- Feb 7: Break Dance Troupe performances.
- Feb 8: Retro Arcade Games & Sweets (ideal for a Sunday afternoon).
- Feb 13: Bollywood Flash Mob.
- Feb 21: Drumming Workshops for all ages.
